Females usually live alone except for some period of time when their cubs live with them. In the wild, males and females mix only to mate. A female always raise her cubs alone. These animals live 10-12 years in the wild.

These animals are not gregarious. They form two types of groups: the family group and males. Males, usually brothers, form a group of 2-3 members. The average size of their territories is about 37.4 square kilometers.
